The participants of the seminar were praising the Lord together, saying thanks for God’s goodness joyfully.

Rev. Judah Pakasi as the moderator of the seminar introduced the profile of the speakers, Rev. Michelle Simalango and Rev. Michael Judah Sumbayak.

Seminar Christian Identity

First Session : We Are Born In God’s Personal Plan

The first session was delivered by Rev. Michelle Simalango. It was shared that we were born in God’s personal plan.

The Word of God says that God has created us and all our days are already written in His Book (Psalms 139:13,16). If we are born in this world, it is not accidental. When we were still in our mother’s womb, God already took control of our lives. God has plans in every man’s life. If we want to be used by God, this is not incidental. Every step is a miracle in our lives. If we were born at the end of time, it means God has plans and wants His plans to be fulfilled in our lives. God had the exact time when we were born. He wants to do something with our lives.

Let us take the example of Paul. He was a faithful man, but once he was a wicked man. Until he met God, he was changed radically to be a good man and started doing the ministry. This is the right time to see our lives in God. If we are not yet involved in the ministry, this is the time to begin the ministry.

Another example was Joseph. He started his career as a foreigner in other nation. And he had saved his people at that time. We are people who will do something for this nation, to pray for this nation.

Paul was a tent maker and had a job to finance his ministry. At his work he met many people, and shared about Jesus to others. We might think that we are busy and it is difficult to serve God. But Paul combined his work with the ministry. While we are working we can testify and share about Jesus’ love.

Act 8:13 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Paul became the witness of God so that many people were saved.

Matthew 19: 20-23

“The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.” The verses talks about a rich young man. God asked him to sell all of his treasures, but he refused to do it, because he had a lot of treasures. He felt sad giving all his wealth.

When we want to see our goal, we must not see only for 70-80 years, but it must reach eternity. While living on earth, this rich young man did good deeds, but he did not want to do God’s will. When we are working in our office, it is not coincidental. Make sure that we put our goal that reaches the eternity.

Second Session: The Christian Identiy

The second session’s topic was “Christian Identity” and delivered by Rev. Michael Sumbayak.

This is the modern day. We can create something such as highrise building, planes, etc. Human beings are able to do anything in this world. How remarkable wisdom that men have! We are all just ordinary ones that do usual activities like others do. We want to live happily, to have a good family, a wife and children who love us. We think we are brilliant, wise, and smart. We know our skills and we are very proud of our skills. We think that we want to be rich, we want to be an entrepreneur. We think this is called extraordinary people.

But what does the Bible say about this?

1 Corinthians 1:19-20

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

This is the fact. Man’s wisdom is worthless. We have got to understand that if we think we are skillful, God will destroy this world’s wisdom. Our intelligence is from God.

We work very hard every day, but our lives on earth will end one day.

Psalms 103:15-16

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

Our lives is like grass on field yet we do not know when we will die. We may think, we are still young and we will not die. We still want to live in this world.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We must know that we are sinful before God, everyone was born sinful. Why were we born in this world? Is it only to do usual activities? We might get confused thinking about it. Who are we according to God? God created us according to His own image and likeness.

Genesis 1:26-27

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

It is not coincidence that we were born in this world. God has chosen us to be born because we are God’s image. We are incredible humans.

Job 7:17-18

What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

As we wake up every morning, God cares for us and comes to us. He welcomes His children in the mornings. We are precious in His eyes. Jesus regards us highly. The fact is we are extraordinary people.

There are some ultimate gifts from God:

1. Jesus as the proof of God’s love.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We were sinful human beings. God came to this world 2,000 years ago to save us. He is the greatest gift of all. Without Jesus we can not possibly have a life that is saved. It is not our wisdom, intelligence, and skill which save us, but Jesus who saves us from sins.

2. Holy Spirit

John 14:15-18

If ye love me, keep my commandments. God gives us Holy Spirit, this is the gift for the believers. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Holy Spirit is given to believers, this is a great gift.

3. The Word of God

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

It talks about the Bible which we read each day. Do not think that we are very busy, so there is no time to read the Bible. If we seek for God through the Word, it makes us different from another people. When we received God that is our identity, Holy Spirit is our identity, God wants to live in us. Not the intelligence, wisdom, position, richness that define who we are, but God is. That is our Christian identity.

What comes after the ultimate gifts?

• Receiving the forgiveness from our sins

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

• The reconciliation with Holy Father.

Romans 3:25

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

• We have the power. We are full of power.

Luke 10:19

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God gives us the power to strike down the enemies, satans are our enemies. We have the power. We are full of power. The power to pray for the sick. We think that we are an ordinary man, but it is wrong. God gives us power to put our hands on the sick, they will be healed. We can do it.

There is also the ability to share the Word. Peter was only a fisherman, but with Jesus he was able to preach the good news. We can share the Word of God to other people.

We are living in this world, not only these days. There is a heaven awaits for us. There is a real life after the life in this world. All things are given by God. When we are raptured God gives us a house in the heaven.

What should we do after receiving the ultimate gifts?

Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

We have to love God with a full heart, a heart which is devoted totally for God. And as the result, we must love other people, to show it we can preach the gospel.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus gives us a great commission to make other people His disciples. We have to preach the gospel, it is not just to be the Pastor, but we can be God’s servants. Be the salt and the light of the world. If we do not have good behavior, how can we be the salt and the light in the dark world? Others will see us from our good behavior, for this is the obvious thing. Be the light and the salt in our offices. Finally, we must be faithful to God until the end.

As Christians we are incredible humans in God. He has given the salvation as well as the Holy Spirit. All those gifts will define who we are. If we are in our work, remember we are not an ordinary man. With what we have, give it to other people. Let other people see us show God’s love and we can preach the gospel to them.

There was also a time for questions and answers. The moderator summarized the Seminar by reading Ephesians 2:11 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It is said that we are created in God’s image and likeness. We are different from others. God wants us to do good works. To be the salt and the light. And there is a spiritual work to do. God wants us to be His witness, be a blessing where God places us. This is God’s will, He wants us to live in it.
