God puts a burden in our hearts to reach out employees and professionals so that they will be revived and that they will not only be busy with these worldly things, working only to meet daily needs, pursuing career, but to do a more valuable thing because life is so precious to be spent on these temporal things.
Therefore, Jangkar Iman Teams (Jaringan Pelayanan Karyawan, Aparatur, Profesional, Eksekutif, Pebisnis Seiman–Networking Ministry of Christian Employees, Civil Servant, Professionals, Executives and Businessman) went to offices to build fellowship with fellow workers and professionals in Jabodetabek and established combined service called MIRACLE NIGHT.
Not only stopped in that event, every week, we gather together in certain places to study Bible together which we often call “Sharing is Caring” and to maintain a close relationship, on November, 24-25, we held a “Miracle Night Retreat” at Wisma Taman Indah, Bogor with the theme “Fishers of Men (Matthew 4:19).”
There was a testimony from a disciple who said this retreat was an answer for his prayer because it had been a long time he had not joined any retreats. They dared to set aside their time in order to be able to come to this retreat. Many of them have got married but they were willing to leave their wives and husbands for a while to commune with God.
The word of God was preached by Rev. Michico about New Creation. All of the participants paid attention carefully towards the topic being preached.
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (NIV)”
Rev. Michico preached that we no longer lived with our old lives but there’s Jesus who lives in us and He helps us to live our lives in accordance with the plans of God. In that occasion, all the participants were asked to pray personally and repent and surrender their lives to God. Then, they were led in worship and many of them were touched by the love of God.
Matthew 4:19-22 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. (21) Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, (22) and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (NIV)
Rev. Michico continued preaching the Word of God. She stated that as just God called the disciples when they were fishing and changed them from the fishermen into the fishers of men, God also called us to be the fishers of men. “Being fishers of men does not mean that we should leave our job in offices and then serve God. However, we can still work and serve at the same time, but our status is as fishers of men,” She added.
When Jesus Christ called His disciples, they responded immediately. In the next session, the participants were taught some points about following God as God wants. The main points are as follows:
- Becoming a disciple of God
They were taught to not only to gather and share in their Bible study group, but truly live their lives as the disciples of God.
- Accepting God as their Master and the ruler of their lives
They were taught that their money and future belong to God.
- God as teacher
God has given us them mentors to help them grow and know God, but still their main teacher is Jesus Christ.
- Walking in the path that God has destined for them
They were taught to walk with God by having personal relationship with God every day, so that the plans of God revealed to them.
- Serving God
It was taught that it’s a bonus for us if we are able to worship God freely in this non-majority Christian nation. Therefore, they were encouraged to have heart that has burden for the souls around them and pray for them wherever they are, so that those lost souls will receive the salvation. Don’t be selfish people who only think about themselves and keep that salvation only for theirs, but they have to share it to those who have not known God.
God equips our lives wonderfully by giving us Holy Spirit who dwells in us. God knows that we need help and a person as a counselor, advocate and helper for us who is always stand by to help us. And, at that moment, those who had not been filled with the Holy Spirit received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Praise the Lord, there were nine people who came forward to be prayed.
They were really blessed on that day. They felt that they were surrounded by people who loved them. There were some of them who were active on ministry but lacked of zeal in serving God. However, on that day, their spirits were revived again. Therefore, they were thankful that they could join this retreat. They felt that they were equipped by God and they were also thankful for brothers and sisters who strengthen one another and walk together hand in hand to heaven. God indeed has blessed this MarketPlace Retreat. Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!
